Sense of taste. Everything else is necessary for Independence.

Smell: to smell natural gas. Also, if you don't have a sense of smell, your sense of taste is almost completely gone too.
Hearing: to hear a fire alarm, cries for help, my son crying, etc.
Sight: to see danger.
Touch: If you have no sense of touch, you're pretty much useless. You can't walk or do anything. Imagine having that weird feeling you get after a couple shots of Novocaine, then spread it all over your body (a.k.a. General anaesthesia / an epidural).

Most days I manage to get by without my brain actually working, so loosing one of them would be a doddle.

Except being able to see. That would break my heart as I get such a kick out of watching the world, the leaves moving in the trees, the glory of flowers, a baby's smile and so on....

In terms of my 5 senses, I have listed them in order of Importance for me, ie, number 1 is the one id LEAST like to loose :

(1) Site
(2) Hearing
(3) Touch
(4) Smell
(5) Taste

Id be able to live without taste because Id still be able to enjoy food, music and art. (tase is only sweet, sour, salt and bitter)

Oh please, I need all my senses. Don't make me give one up. How am I to smell the flowers if no smell, see the flowers no sight, feel the cool crispness of a cool spring morn no feeling, taste the goodness of a good meal with no taste, so on and so forth, Nope not giving any up.

Can you get a disabled badge if you can't smell?

Maybe like one of Fr Ted's friends, I could lose the use of my ears in an accident. He wasn't deaf, but he couldn't move them any more - he used to be able to waggle them.

Taste.
I hate eating food, therefore i don't need to enjoy and taste it.
That way, i can put anything in my mouth, with out worrying about a bad taste :)
