There are several places where you can see low risk inmates working at various jobs. Personally, I think this allows them to actually "repay" their debt to society and probably is a reasonable practice.

Yes , we are just going out now ,we just finished putting on our chains ,selected our gangs that we like to stay with,. And now we are putting our hands in the job jar, hopefully we get garbage pick up again , I hate doing road repair..
