When I was young, the only news I hear about is about crime and ill events. I haven't heard much about any sort of corruption on companies.
However this past 2 years, I kept hearing multiple scams done by phone, banks, housing, insurence, loans, and such bussinesses suddendly adding multiple "worries" added when having already meeting conditions. Also companines seems to often make or fool unexpected customers to harm the victem finacally.
One such when it comes to health care when my aunt were tricked to switch her medicate with some other health program that almost completly robbed her of all health care benefits.
Not to mention recent news of on a health company to refuse care to someone who is in near-fatal condition until she died when she already covered?
Now I hear from family and people now is how corrupted the common bussiness is. Deception, scam, furad, trickery...Is this all that become of bussiness? Is this all for profit?

Big money, Greed, quest for power, wealth. Being able to control things. When you have a question like this, follow the money trail. In any area of corruption or money scandels it will always come back to a fer people who are seeking to gather massive amounts of wealth and are pwoer hungry.
Remember that there is nothing wrong with big business as such. Profits make it possible for people to work, expand business, compensate for economic fluctuations and provide the wwasteful government with enough money to prevent it from nationalizing big corps to diectly steal.
It is people, not the "Company" that are responsible for the bad policies. The insurance company is not corrupt - it is the managements, a very few people in management, that are responsible for the decisions

Disastrous social picture in US is such because government does nothing to control and prevent this...
Even people in countries with per capita 10 000$ enjoy superior social benefits, paid health insurance etc.
Economy is supposed to benefit us ALL.
Do you mind US workers being abused like slaves? What protection do workers enjoy in US? NONE, but min wage 5.15$. Vacation? social insurance? pension? ill days?
This is why corps like America... CEOs with salary 500 million $ enjoy tax cuts and protection, common folk enjoys nothing.
In US, you are good as working drone-as long as you can do that... once you fall sick, get old etc. you are discarded as piece of trash.
Lawyers, hospitals, they will all suck you dry. if you die, some have even the right to seize ALL your property.
Smart people seem to more and more be moving away from US. Somewhere where they enjoy social insurance, and don't have to carry a pair of Uzis and bulletproof vest when they go shopping!
Blessed be Europe, it's a disgrace what US has turned to.
"Richest third world country", that's its nickname.

Yes, of course it's all for profit. It's always about the bottom line. By extension, it's also about staying competitive, and in order for companies to undercut their competitors, they have to first undercut their customers by increasing prices, and using shady legal maneuvers. This, of course, is what the board of directors and shareholders want, and it's what keeps them fat & happy.
Who knows how long this can last? Eventually, the dominos will start to fall, starting with the middle class, then consumerism, followed by jobs, then when the companies aren't doing enough business to keep the shareholders fat & happy, they might realize they've been feasting on their own tail.

Business. american or otherwise, is largely unscrupulous.
There is a mentality in big corporations that if dumping pollution in to an endangered area would get them a fine from the EPA and that fine is cheaper than the proper dumping of the waste.............. then pollute and save the money.
and Insurance companies make around a 17 percent annual profit, double that of Exxon or Mobil.
They're slime, refuse to be a consumer.
