My mom is 43 years old and she thinks that she can dress like a 20 year old. She is also a grandmother. So, should she be dressing like that? Help?

Your mother sounds immature. I'm assuming she is single and may be trying to attract a man? If this is the case, all she will attract are losers and immature men.

Tell her she will attract a better class of men if she wears a better quality of clothing for women her age. Women who dress too young look silly and are not attractive.

Good luck!

Age very often can be a state of mind especially when there is a 23 year difference. Perhaps to another 43 year old she looks terrific. Many mothers & grandmothers think their daughters dress inapproprietly as well. This doesn't change their daughter's opinions and most like you won't change your mothers either.

Can't tell you how often I have heard from my mother "you're not going out looking like that are you?".

Are you talking about me? Haha! I'm 54, a grandmother of 2, mother of 6 grown-up kids (now professionals). I dress up just like my 2 young daughters (22 and 28). But no one has ever told me I look awful. My kids like me for that and even introduce me to their friends. My 24 year-old boy always tells his friends, "You see, just like what I told you, she doesn't look her age". However, when I go to a business deal, I see to it that I wear something corporate.

I know what you mean. Friends of my age can't wear what I wear. But they say I don't look "horrible" in mine and they even like them. What's important is that one can "carry herself" with confidence. If you think your mom cannot, you can do something to improve her personality. Teach her some fashion crafts and give her tips. One can be modern but should see to it that the dress/ the hair style fit her.

Why worry? She could be going through a mid-life crisis and unfortunately, this can be distressful for her and you. Talk to her about it and see what is going on. Tell her you just want to make sure she is ok and then helo her through it. SHe may have a nice body and wants to show it off. Is she still married? I mean these are things that are important to know. Is she trying to find a mate again or could it just be a self esteem thing.

Assuming she is i good shape for her age, it probably makes the 43 year old men happy, so she should, yes.

It's called a mid-life crisis. She is aging and she isn't coping well. She is attempting to reclaim her youth. It never works of course and it can seem silly or even unseemly. But other than your embarrassment, who is it hurting? Just draw the line at exposing her midriff, that's just not right.

This would be a good time to buy her age appropriate clothes. Hopefully she'll take the hint.
