Everyone says that Braxton Hicks are supposed to happen...but I have never felt one. My stomach never tightens and releases,,,is this normal? Also, last night-I was in the worse pain ever. It felt like she was grinding on me down there. My bladder felt like it was going to rupture and it hurt so very bad. I could not even walk. While I sleep at night, this terrible pain comes in the right back side where my butt is and shoots down the back of my thigh. It feels like my bones are being ripped out of me...it's terrible pain. What's going on with my body? Thanks in advance?

the baby drops into your pelvis, lining up for delivery and hits nerves, pushes on your bladder and everything else. this can cause shooting pain in your lower back and down your legs. it's perfectly normal. it could be weeks for you yet but this is preparation for delivery... braxton hicks... it's fine if you don't get them. they really have nothing much to do with anything, they don't progress you into labor and don't cause you to dilate. they're more or less practice contractions for your uterus. some women don't ever experience them. i've had none to speak of with either of my pregnancies. (i'm 38 weeks now) rest up, walk around a little if you feel like it, eat light and healthy foods to make sure you're keeping your energy up, you'll need it for labor...and good luck.

braxton hicks will be occuring but most people don't feel them. I had no idea I was getting them until the midwife sat on my couch with me, with her hand on my tummy going, look thats one and all of sudden it was really hard for a few seconds. They were really really painful with my second and totally unmistakeable. Don't worry if you can't feel them, it means nothing if you do or don't . It has no bearing on whether you are going to go into labour so don't worry about it.

If the pain is a constant sharp pain and you don't feel able to cope with it, see your doctor. However it could be your siatic nerve that the baby is laying on and causing the unbearable pain. Not much you can do about it unfortunately.
I got the worst pains in the world with my second but there isn't much you can do about it. My b/friend is due in 2weeks and constantly in pain now in her pelvis, butt, lower back and upper legs. Its very common and usually means baby is engaged and grinding down on the pelvic bones which in turn irratates surrounding bones.

good luck and try getting on all fours and rocking side to side. This will release some of the pressure on your pelvis and back and give you some relief.

If you are ever in doubt though, ring your doctor

You might want to talk to a doctor/midwife about the pain that don't sound to good...
But not everyone gets braxton hicks.... I have had two different types... One was the normal one where tummy gets tighter and loose again and the other one was more painful.. Yes you can get painful braxton hicks.

I never had braxton hicks contractions with either of my pregnancy's. The shooting pain is caused by the baby putting pressure on your sciatic(sp?) nerve. Don't worry it'll all be over soon! Congrats & good luck!
