Well, it all depends upon your view of death, doesn't it? If you believe that death is the end of all consciousness, then you would want a longer life. If you believe that there is an afterlife to go to, then this brief existence is essentially a prelude to something we hope will be better, so why prolong it?

There are medical considerations too. Are we prolonging life without preserving the quality? I don't want to live those extra 3-5 years if I'm tied to machines and unable to live life in an independent and coherent state.

Blessing. If someone gets bored of his/ her life but is not very young he/ she can solve this problem by commiting suicide.
