First of all, the MMR is not for chicken pox. It is for measles, mumps and rubella. The chances of his contracting these viruses in the next 2 -3 weeks would be unbelievably rare. He can have his chicken pox vaccine at 1 year old and will then also need a booster. If he actually did catch any of the things and then you got them (if you haven't had a vaccine) then it could be detrimental to your unborn baby. Don't worry though it is not going to happen you are just hormonal and freaking out about everything. I used to worry about exhaust fumes from the cars in front of me when I drove.

MMR is measles, mumps, rubella vaccination. The chicken pox vaccination is a seperate needle done from 18mths of age.
But yes, if he were to catch chicken pox or measles while you are pregnant you would be advised to stay completely away from him until he is completely clear otherwise the unborn baby could be affected. My cousin is deaf because of my aunt being in contact with a person with measles when she was pregnant.
However, the chances of him catching measles, mumps or rubella or chickenpox in the next 3 weeks is pretty slim so I would not let it concern you.
Just relax and things will be fine. Its not so common to catch measles anymore because most people are vacinnated and chicken pox is starting to wean out a little as well. I wouldn't be concerned.
best of luck and congrats on your second baby!

It all really depends on your own immunity. My OB always checks this at my first appointment with blood tests. I know it can be frightening. I am not immune to "slapface" and it is really bad for unborn babies. The whole time I was pregnant with my second I was so worried my first son would catch it and give it to me. As some others said the chickenpox vaccine is separate to MMR.

Chicken pox has its own shot. MMR is for measles and that sorta thing. As long as hes gotten all his regular shots throughout childhood, he should be fine. He shouldn't be able to expose you or your baby to stuff like that. He seems too old for hand foot in mouth disease. If you have any foreign friends who hang out often, you might want to find out if they have been given shots as well. Some come from countrys that do not protect against diseases that they do here. Also friends who just do not get shots for their family at all.
