Many times I have thought many stores sell reconditioned tools like new ones.

they are usually marked on the box. there may be a tag on the cord, there may be a sticker on the item. there may be an "R" on the plate with the serial number on it. there may be an "R" stamped on the metal part or burnt into the plastic part. if it was factory reconditioned, It should say so on the box/package.....many of the "Lot" stores IE big lots, odd lots, etc sell these type of items. factory reconditioned items come with a warranty, usually 90 days...they are taken apart and rebuilt new parts if needed, the only problem might be slight cosmetic blemishes.... i own several reconditioned items and am very pleased with them

if it was reconditioned at a factory authorized dealer, it will have a "r" engraved after the serial number
