I am quite amused by the drones like to cite the surge as the primary indicator of "progress" within Iraq. The surge by definition, the surge is only temporary, a "quick fix" to a long-term problem. The bigger question is, what will happen once the "surge" has ended?

This administration has failed to hold the Iraqi government itself accountable for not meeting its own benchmarks to find permanent solutions to prevent future sectarian violence and rebuild vital infrastructure.

Simply put, there has been little or nothing done to plan for the future.

Recall 3 years ago.
Yes. He is sorry for the humiliation suffered by the Iraqi prisoners and the humiliations suffered by their families. He is equally sorry that people who've seen those pictures didn't understand the true nature and heart of America. Bush added. his assurance is, is that he has not changed his vision of two states living side-by-side in peace

In my opinon
Here is Bush’s plan for Iraq.
Order more troops into Iraq to create one of two outcomes: (1) Cause a confrontation with Congress. Have Congress withhold the funds to pay for the expanded war. Begin a troop withdrawal from Iraq. Blame Congress for the failure to achieve “victory”. (2) Send the troops and maintain the status quo in Iraq until after November 2008. Have his successor withdraw US troops. Blame his successor for failing to achieve “victory”. In either case Bush will claim that he is not accountable for the Iraq debacle.

Its not humiliation that is keeping us there, its money. Iraq is a lie and the sooner America or should I say the 30 percent that does not think it is and wakes the hell up. The better off this country will be.

Said day to think that people support this so called war on terror! Please go look up terror and figure it out. Try to put the big picture together instead of the small minded one G Bush is handing out.

Iraq will always be known as a lie folks! Nothing good can come from a lie!

How many upper class Iraqi's are getting richer bye the min? How many millionaires has this so called war made?

I still find it sad that people would thumb me down because of the truth. To think that somebody would back this lie of a war! Tis a sad day in deed for this country!

UPDATE,,, its not about good and evil, its about fixing the **** up and getting the hell out folks. Bagdad is not Iraq, its a small part of Iraq that is being used to tell a story of hope to the American people. LIES FOLKS..

I dont care how much you want to stack on the side of this so called GOOD. Our troops have suffered, the people of Iraq have suffered, the American people have suffered. The world has suffered because of what he did. No amount of good can equal this LIE.

You can have all the good you want, remember to tell that man that lost his child, wife, son, dad, mom, why we went to war, OK! I'd ike to see a smile on his face, though we will never see it!

they're presently engineering it so as that the subsequent President will have no say ( he thinks). Bush and his cohorts are going to objective and get an settlement signed which will pass away us in Iraq for God is conscious how long and assurances for companies like Bechtel, Halliburton and Blackwater

That is one reason .If he withdraw without properly settling down the present government in position it will be a great disaster for USA in the days to come .of course .Future Iraqi government will not be any friendly to USA and perhaps it will turn against USA to take the revenge for what they have done in Iraq .

No, he's continuing it for it for reasons of corporate profitability, vengeance, and American hegemony.

He IS that arrogant, that much isn't in dispute.

Many have said that "the surge is working".

It isn't.

We had no right to invade Iraq, and we have no right to occcupy Iraq militarily. If the Iraqis wanted to get rid of Saddamn, that was THEIR job to do, not ours. I misspell his name on purpose because I think he was a sonofabitch, but international law doesn't (and shouldn't) allow nations to invade other nation simply because they are governed by sons of bitches.

It's not that he is afraid of humiliation. He actually believes he's doing the right thing.

Have you been reading the news for the last nine months? Currently the violence in Iraq is at it's lowest point since the beginning of the war. Despite what you read in your local rag, we delivered a tremendous blow to Al-Qaeda. You don't care about Iraq, you are just on the Hate-Bush Bandwagon...Face it, he could pull all the troops out of Iraq tomorrow and you would start posting that he is soft on national security.

I think Iraq was a waste of valuable time and money... and public humiliation is the reason why it took so long. I can't wait for Bush to step down. We need peace in this world and we need it now.

It is believable that the lost mighty country in the world could defeat a bunch of cave dwellers.

The surge is working; what are you poor liberals going to do with yourselves when the US prevails?
