He has a great sense of humour, loves computers and music, however we are moving abroad soon and it would be great for him to have some friends on line.

Sorry I can't help with the pen friend, but I think that previous answers have given good advice about not looking for someone on the internet.

I have a relative who has worked with Aspergers affected children. I will ask her if she knows of any suitable organisations, and let you know.

You might already know about this, and I don't know if you will be interested, but there is a book called The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, by Mark Haddon, which features someone with Aspergers

childrens (even pre-childrens) can change into depressed and characteristic stress issues. Panic attacks will be referring to to melancholy yet are frequently no longer. If the panic attacks change into extra regular then your son quite desires to ensure a psychiatrist because your son will be screened for different issues and (hopefully) the perfect diagnosis will be discovered and dealt with. And a actual exam by his pediatrician is significant (regardless of the actuality that if he had one a 12 months in the past) incase there is an underlying clinical difficulty reason the panic attacks. that's amazingly good you're taking him to a wellness practitioner the following day. Having many panic attacks many times finally ends up in Panic ailment (with or with out agoraphobia). And Panic ailment is many times harder to attend to than different stress issues. i became precisely 13 at the same time as i began to have issues. and that i have panic ailment with agoraphobia. this stuff do ensue. I surely were to A&E/ER quite a few cases for panic attacks (that as you could wager is a demonstration that that's transforming into a difficulty) try no longer to agonize your self too a lot. basically view this as a 'red flag' and if issues increase then get him the right treatment

Don't advertise for penfriends for your son on here. The best place to try would be the National Autistic Society, Nas.org. or ring the helpline. They would be better placed to put you in touch with an organisation who specialise in Asperger's and could find some one suitable to correspond with your son. Good luck.

You should try postcrossing dot com.

I don't know your son very well, but my 12 yo aspie would not be interested in penfriends just for the sake of friends. Postcrossing is fun because you get postcards from across the planet, and get to send postcards. There are built-in safety measures.

I would suggest contacting the National Autistic Society who probably run such a service. I know that they have a parent-to-parent support network and in the event that they don't currently provide this service, it would be a very good suggestion for them to consider setting one up. It would also offer protection from unwanted contacts.

Ok... I'm a 15 year old kid with AS and I think it would be best to go with the NAS or someone like that as with the internet your child can be VERY vunerable and might not realise or understand the dangers fully.

This question is wrong in so many "To Catch a Predator" ways. I would suggest letting him make his own friends, you're too old to solicit 13 year old "pen friends" who love computers. You could get in big trouble. :(

This is not a safe place to search for a pen pal for your child. Ask his teacher if she has a pen pal program.
