I have a boyfriend that I absolutely hate. And, the other night, I met an amazing guy, we kissed, had a GREAT night. Then, we saw each other again.. and it was too intense and I since told him I have a boyfriend and that it had to end.

I'm breaking up with my boyfriend after the holidays and then I'm going to spend around a year single before I consider anything serious.

But, the moments i spent with this new guy were SO amazing that I feel my depression was cured. Can love/infatuation really have such a positive effect on someone's life? I'm always in a good mood, and I am just so optimistic and confident now. It's crazy! And.. the guy is gone and I still have the aftereffects.. I'm in a SUPER GOOD MOOD every single day!! All from some trivial moments of passion with a guy I'll never see again.

I think it can. Although, I'm not really sure myself. I do believe in what they call the "Honeymoon stage" because love or even infatuation will never be forever perfect. But "Honeymoon stage" is still part of the whole love word, right? So, yes! Love, infatuation, whatever ... is the best medicine to depression.

when a girl breaks up with a guy there are several factors involved.
#1 you have to resent him so much that the idea of going back with him would never enter your mind.
#2 that anger if not let go when reached can be directed inside of you causing depression
#3the monkey doesn't let go of one branch untill he gets a good grip on the next one
#4 you hope maybe he will do your dirty work for you break up with you.
#5 the guilt you feel because of these feelings is temporarily releived by using this guy as a rebound you can talk to him he is the one who understands ring any bells.
All women feel this way if you are ready end it and move on.

Hello Stace

Love creates Endomorhins - they make us happy. However, the cause of the depression will still be there, masked but there all the same.

You may find that this fling gave you closure & confidence - if you find yourself getting down again then it is a deeper issue.

it depends. what is your depression triggered by? maybe your depression is triggered by your current boyfriend. also, the prospect of a new and exciting "love" is overwhelming for anyone. new love is always more exciting. i'm not saying that what you are feeling is wrong. maybe your depression is triggered by feeling insignificant and or having low confidence. sometimes a new love interest boosts up those feelings of yourself and that is great! anytime you feel good about yourself should be savored. maybe it is time to enjoy yourself and not worry about your boyfriend (who seems to be falling short of your needs). good luck. i know you will find something that feels right for you.

no cuz you're just in the honeymoon stage. Once that's over and life is back to normal, you'll probably feel depressed again. Get help for yourself first and don't rely on a guy to make you feel better.

Love can change a condition and in that,it can cure a depressed person and it can also depress a normal person. It depends on what you put in to relationship and how you nourish it.

The good news: You're in love.
The bad news: Love is temporary, enjoy it while it lasts.

Love is a like a virus. Either it goes away (like your love for your boyfriend went away) or it kills you.

it can in a sense, because being in love can increase the seratonin levels in your brain, and release endorphins. thats why people who fall in love are so happy :)
