So tell me what's the differnence bw ocd and having crazy thought's and really just crazy people.

OCD is a very difficult thing to deal with. many people with OCD do follow though with their compulsions. sometimes it can also feel like bipolar. i know that feeling of thinking you are crazy. have you looked for medical advice? i'd hate to suggest medication as an option if you are strongly opposed but i know how many people it has helped. you are not alone. what you describe as "crazy" may be quite different from OCD tendencies. people who are considered "crazy" can suffer from a variety of disorders or diseases. some include bipolar, schizophrenia, and personality disorders. each one is very different. whatever it is that you feel burdened with i highly suggest you seek medical advice and moral support fromthose that deal with similar syptoms. good luck

The word "crazy" is really a slang term but highly over-used and misused by those not in the mental health profession. OCD is a Personality Disorder which can be harder to treat because it is more of a behavioral and attitude problem rather than something organic in the brain that can be treated directly with medication. But yes, there is medication for OCD and do check into it if you haven't with a psychiatrist or mental health professional capable of prescribing prescription medication.

I dated a lady with OCD issues; She had medication but didn't take it and as a result, became impossible to live with. For her, it was jealosy and coming up with these incredible accusations which had zero to do with reality, and it ultimately broke us apart.

Do some research on the Diagnostic Statistical Manual which outlines the various personality disorders and distinguishes them from more severe mental illnesses. OCD is serious to be sure but having it doesn't mean you are "insane". Actually, MOST people have one personality disorder or another in varying degrees so just get some treatment and do what you can to let go of these compulsions through therapy and if needed, medication.

For me, the word "crazy" implies that the person doesn't really know what's going on. For example, some people hear voices from people who aren't there, or have hallucinations, etc. Some people can't tell the difference between reality and what's going on inside their heads.

People with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) don't have this same kind of experience. They know the difference between reality and fantasy, and they usually know that the obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors that they experience don't make sense. There are many people with OCD who are functional members of society.

It sounds like your obsessive thoughts are troubling to you. Why not have yourself evaluated by a psychiatrist? This person might be able to recommend some treatment that can give you relief. Best wishes for a happy future.

OCD, as you know is where you have these thoughts that your everyday activities...well, things must be perfect and you wouldn't be able to rest easy until this perfection has been completed. Though everyone knows that their behavior is crazy, there is almost no way to stop it.
Just because you have OCD, it does not make you crazy.
Crazy people generally don't care if something is perfect or not.

The difference between eccentric and crazy, in a person or a situation, is the degree of success. A person with unusual antics that work for them is considered to be eccentric, while if those same antics do not work the person would be considered crazy.

Well, when you start collecting cans for a living and pick at your skin with tweezers to get rid of the chicken cancer and tell strangers about crystal and star energies, then you're crazy.

I suppose OCD people are a little crazy too, but hey, we also tend to have higher IQs. ;)

I'm not a doctor, but I don't believe 'crazy' is a clinical term. As it's used colloquially, crazy would probably refer to any mental illness which makes a person act differently than "normal".

To be honest, these are questions you should be asking your doctor rather than people who know nothing about you or your clinical diagnosis.

Crazy people are people that are weird for no reason. You may or maynot be weird but you have a reason. Crazy people are people that you see on the street dirty grimy and yelling at the side walk for no reason. You have a reason, there for you have an excuse and are not crazy.
