yes,i had no problem keeping a few together.As a matter of fact axalotles produce an incredible wound healing ability&is capable of complete limb regrowth(should something happen)
Axalotls are carnivores&require a meat based diet.They have rudamentry teeth designed for ripping&chewing.(if you get latched onto you can feel tiny teeth)Prepared Axalotl Pellets should be offered occasionally.Bloodworms(are midge larvae)are good,they are well balanced in nutrients for axalotl)Tubifex are ok,but not nutritionally balanced(for salamander)&also attack eggs too!(in this case frozen/dried would be better)Black worms are an aquatic reletive to earthworms(highly nutritious)&whit worms are good for the juvaniles.Daphnea makes a good treat for axalotls 7inches/18cm long.Axalotls can be fed mealworms but find it hard to digest(insects exoskeleton).Keep in mind when feeding,they need high quality foods with low oil/fat content.(tubifex&white are good examples)High protein&vitamin they need.Beef heart is great(i cut up&feed)
AXALOTL=large salamander native to Mexico.Adults can reach30cm(12inch)or more&weigh as much as 300g.
AXALOTLS=NEOTENIC(they keep their feathery external gills&tail fin their entire life)
Best housed with own species.
BEST KEPT@16-20c anything above22-24=stressful.
LIFE SPAN=10-15yrs.

I've kept two adults in a ten gallon tank. Keeping two males together shouldn't be a problem as long as they're more than 2-3 inches long when you get them. Juveniles have a tendency to be cannibalistic when kept together.

I fed mine on turtle and fish pellets most of the time, and gave them frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, and blackworms for treats.

If you get a dark and light one, you could always call them "Salt" and "Pepper" or "Yin" and "Yang".

EDIT: 10 gallons would be equivalent to 38 liters (about 45cm long, 20cm wide, 30cm deep)

Not lot of vets take care of axoloti salamanders and also axoloti do not like being touched since it can ruin its slim coat.
