question 1:
Circumscribe the figure with a rectangle
(0,0) (0,5) (6,5) (6,0)
This rectangle has an area of 6*5 = 30 square units.
Find the areas of the four outside triangle, all of which are right angles:
(1/2)(4)(3) = 6
(1/2)(5 - 3)(3 - 0) = 3
(1/2)(5 - 4)(6 - 3) = 3/2
(1/2)(4 - 0)(6 - 4) = 4
A = 30 - 14 1/3 = 15 2/3 square units

question 2:
All sides are equal (5 units), so we have a rhombus or a square.
slope1 = (4 - 0)/(0 + 3) = 4/3
slope2 = (1 - 4)/(4 - 0) = - 3/4
so we have a square.
