I want to buy a DS Lite, but i wonder if i should wait for the next best thing. Does anyone else believe that DS will become old and a thing of the past, Like Game Boy Color was replaced by Game Boy Advance, that was replaced by Game Boy Advance SP, which was replaced by DS original, and DS original was replaced by the DS Lite, DS Lite was eventually replaced by the_________. So i wonder if the DS Lite is worth getting right now, or will it be replaced by an even better system. Or will this cycle just continue on as game technology advances at the fast pace its already going in? I think it will be replaced eventually. Anyone else in the Yahoo commuity wanna take a shot at this question?

DS lite won't be replaced for another 3-5 yrs, maybe. i say go ahead and buy one, even if they do come up with a "newer" DS, they'll still make games for the Lite. Same with the PSP, they made a slimmer one, but they're both pretty much the same.

Yes, the DS will eventually be rendered obsolete by its successor. And that system will also be eventually replaced by the next handheld after that, and so on. This happens to all technology and its rather predictable. I'd give the DS another three years. You should still pick it up though, its a great handheld and if you're going to hold off on buying a system in order to wait for the next best thing then you may as well find a new hobby now because there will also be a new best thing on the horizon.

If you just want to play a certain game (Pokemon??) only available for the DS or DS lite, i suggest you to just get a Wii cuz Wii plays Gamecube, DS and Wii games. ( not sure about GBA though). and im pretty sure that Nintendo wont be makin a new system to replace the Wii for another 3 or 4 years.

get the ds lite. it will be a little while before it gets replaced, and there are some pretty decent games right now.

as for myself, i'm just waiting for the pocket virtual reality headset system to be invented - i already have a ds l..

also, you need to realize.. progress in technology isn't just a rapid pace, it's becoming exponential..

the lite is still new, but they'll still come out with something new, but buy the ds lite anyway.
