Neither party is serious about securing the border and stopping illegal aliens, so why pretend one does?

Um, actually, one of those two parties has done the following:

Put the national guard on the border
Passed legislation for a border fence
Began building the border fence
Began rounding up illegals for deportation

And it's working (a little). Immigration is down and farming communities will complain from time to time that they don't have the labor they're accustomed to.

Not enough for me, but I give Bush credit for it.

America's government is not about having good leadership....its about baffling people with spoon-fed bullshit and getting enough of them to eat it! Neither party has any plans, nor will they stop illegal immigration....there is a great amnesty plan on the horizon! Great for Illegals....not so great for legally residing Americans! Talk is cheap....we have heard the talk for years on stopping illegal immigration, thus far nothing, except ( Amnesty Programs)....more talk!

Whose pretending? Ive been pissed off at both parties for doing nothing for a LONG time! Bush is just as guilty as Nancy Pelosi on the issue.
Only when the vast majority of the American people start to FORCE them to do so (by threatening their jobs... enmasse) will some kind of progress be seen.
There is too much money at stake on both sides of the isle, and both sides pander to them as a future voting block!
Its part politics, part greed, and for the most part... noone with any common sense takes them seriously when they talk tough on the issue.
Ive seen vitually no action on this subject since Reagan gave them amnesty in the 80s!
At least He had the balls to call it what it is instead of labeling it "Comprehensive Immigration Reform" and pretending we are all stupid and cant see it for what it is despite the large words!

If they (either party) solve the issue, they won't have a hot button to push during the next election cycle, so they talk and talk with no real intentions of ever solving it.
For them, it's a money maker due to campaign contributions from those who would like the issue solved once and for all. They will not kill the cash cow until they have to.

I have no idea why either party doesn't want anything done about illegal immigration. It boggles the mind. I think that we, as citizens, need to take it upon ourselves to get the job done. Our "leaders" obviously, will not.

Let's put things in perspective. The socialist lefties are ready to acuse anyone of racism who dares enforce U.S. sovereignty. This is a sad and dangerous state of affairs for many reasons. Two huge concerns are granting illegals free healthcare and other benefits (at tax payers expense) and union-busting by way of contracting out transportation and construction jobs at minimal hourly cost. Our economy would be turned upside down.
