I say stay clear of him, and lose all contact. How dare he after all you have done for him, if anyone does address you. Let them know it is a "Nasty Vicious" lie, and ask them if they really think as a mother. You would allow this to have happen and stood by not doing a thing, and even if you didn't know at the time what was going on . You would now stand there doing nothing? Let people know "IF" you Ex had done anything with her, he wouldn't be alive right now. Next time the Social worker comes knocking, ask her what she really thinks. And ask her who she really believes you or the scum bag cousin, and ask her what you gain from not telling the truth.

Domestic issues are complicated and difficult. The law is designed to make lawyers richer so you might look at dealing with this in a non-legal manner.

Get some family and friends to sit down with him interventionist style and telling him that it is a good idea to stop talking about this.

If that fails you can ask a lawyer to draft a letter asking him to cease and desist from spreading these lies. This is likely to get him to stop.

The united states lets you sue for psychological damage, so you the lawyer may encourage you to go for this, but the effect on your daughter is not worth the money.

If he has taken the issue to the police then he can be charged with making a false complaint. Otherwise I don't think the police can help you.

VERY TOUCHY... Speak with your daughter and tell her you trust her step-dad but you need to hear it from her in private. Tell her she can tell you anything because you are there for her no matter what. If it checks out well, go to the person who is making the false accusations. Tell him to stop because it is a lie and causing mental anguish to a child of 12. If he wont stop, go to the DA's office and file a complaint. This has to very embarrassing for the child. Good luck.

edit: Keep your daughter and all little girls away from this cousin. This had to cross his mind when he was around your 12 year old daughter in order for him to concoct such a lie. He is a potential pedophile.

Sounds like your cousin is harassing you and your minor daughter, and is slandering your husband #2.

Go to the police and file harassment/ stalking charges against him if that is the case and seek a restraining order.

Your husband #2 should file civil charges if your cousin is alleging falsehoods that damage his reputation.

Or your cousin is telling a truth confided to him by your daughter who is embarrassed by it being made public, and is frustrated that no one believes him and that your daughter won't admit it to you.

Talk to your daughter some more to be sure.

I think you need to do more than just having a lawyer. She is just 12 and needs your protection more than ever. From what you told here, it looks like he's trying to make everybody believes that you're the guilty ones, hence giving him more chance to get closer to your girl. Oh please seek help from your local church or well fare department and do seek more than a lawyer. God bless. Merry Christmas.
