Well, I have Windows Vista Basic, but when I try to install it, it is suppose to give me two choices.

1."Upgrade" Keeps all files, programs, etc.
2. "New" Deletes everything and gives you a clean start to install on.

I want to "upgrade" it but it says that I need 6503MB free space on my C: partion or something like that in order to do this.

Can anyone tell me what that is and how to clear more space?

Thank you in advance,

Note: Many people have told me that you use Add and Remove Programs on the Control Panel to uninstall programs which give you more hard drive space. I have uninstalled many programs already but nothing has changed.

I believe that you do not have enough space on your hard drive to install Windows Vista. In order to be able to install Vista, you need to increase the available storage in your hard drive. To do this, you need to uninstall some unwanted/unnecessary programs to free some hard drive space. You can also do a system clean up, as this also may free some hard drive space.

Dude, quite. this is 2009. Any workstation with an HD smaller than a hundred GB is out of date. you're starting to be greater issues for your self with that workstation. An improve isn't an selection? you're pushing that unfavorable element to the minimize. in any different case, an exterior stressful stress may well be your in basic terms selection. I actually have a 250 BG one for my lap real and this is magic- backs up each and every little thing purely great and keep extensive movies and many music. i does not manage the registry till you relatively be attentive to what you're doing. As you pronounced, it may screw up your workstation. The data are not quite ON iTunes, consistent with se, they are coming from the iTunes music folder. this is real there is nearly a 'duplicate' document element happening, yet once you do no longer decide to import your music to iTunes every time you opt to hearken to it, preserving it in the two places is the only selection. Sorry for the harshness!

You need to know how big your hard drive is. When installing Vista, I am pretty sure it will tell you how much space left your hard drive has in it. So, go for upgrade in case your hard drive enough room for Vista.

how big is you hard drive? housekeeping may help get rid of temp internet files, defrag your hard drive. Hard drive is storage. ram is memory r=random a=accessible m=memory. That seem a lot of space for vista, I would go back to XP personally.

Delete files that you dont need or use.

Personally, I would stay clear of Vista, if CNet and PCWorld voted this as one of the worst product ever, its already sending you a clear message.
