YES here is why -
First you have to understand that ultimately he came from Catholics... Santa Clause is derived from Saint Nicolas (niclause as it used to be). Saint Nick, an actual being who lived around the year 1087, was a bishop; he started a tradition of his own of leaving stockings (literally socks at the time) filled with gold on the steps of homes whose parents did not have enough money to marry their daughter(s) off. The tradition and as well as variations began to spread through the town and now, pretty much the whole world.

Yes, he did die but it is believed by christians ( most?) that Saint Nick's spirit of gift giving is present w/ the parents at the time of Xmas. The parents/gaurdians serve as the tool or instrument of Saint Nick. For example, at a concert you dont thank the piano for the music, you thank the musician. Same thing here. Saint Nickolas is the source of the spirit of gift giving and the parents are the instrument of carrying out that source.

No, it isn't the Santa who wears a red suit w/ flying reindeer, but historically he DOES EXIST. (the Santa seen on most pictures etc. being fat w/ a red suit was developed by Coke in the 1930s and Rudolf came from a sears ad about the same time.)

People say Santa isn't real but really he is because millions of children around the world believe in him and have so much joy for Santa Clause. Santa is what brings christmas cheer to everyone and that is why he is real.

Pre-modern representations of the gift-giver from church history and folklore merged with the British character Father Christmas to create the character known to Britons and Americans as Santa Claus. Father Christmas dates back at least as far as the 17th century in Britain, and pictures of him survive from that era, portraying him as a well-nourished bearded man dressed in a long, green, fur-lined robe. He typified the spirit of good cheer at Christmas, and was reflected in the "Ghost of Christmas Present" in Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol.

The name Santa Claus is derived from Sinterklaas, the Dutch name for the character based on St. Nicholas. He is also known there by the name of Saint Nicolaas which explains the use of the two fairly dissimilar names Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas or St. Nick

Do what I did when I was in elementary school...make a "believable" and "unbelievable" list about the rumors about what santa does, and then see what you come up with. Santa really isn't representing a person anyways- it represents the spirit of what christmas is...giving...all across the world.

yes or no depends on which one you are talking about, the one that gives presents to people is NOT real, but there is one that is a Saint Nick and he is real.
