So, my hips seem to be double-jointed. I can "pop" it out and in. Till now it's just been a "party trick"--but when I show people they get grossed out.

A few months ago I was doing lunges with weights and my right hip popped out, but too far, and I was in a lot of pain, missed 2 days of work because of it.

My dad's a doctor and he thinks it's normal. I've also asked an orthopedic doc a few years ago, when I had an unrelated running injury, about it, and he didn't know what to say.

Anyone have any light to shed??

Maybe you should consult another doctor.haha. That seems like a rather serious problem. Especially if it's so painful you have to miss work because of it.

Sounds like you were born with a minor "Structural Defect..."-and there's probably not much you can do about it now... -So take it Easy with those lunges & weights; sounds like they're a bit more than your hips can handle... :)
