Whatever you interpret "it" to be....draw from your own experiences. Would you rather regret doing something if you felt afterwards it was a mistake, or regret not trying at all?

Thanks for your answers! :)

A decision is a decision, doesn't matter if that decision is to take an action or not to take an action... in other words, you are just as responsible for your inaction as you action. There are some that believe if you don't physical do an action, you are not responsible for what happens, but I don't believe this to be the case. I prefer to go down fighting, to at least try my best... so yes, I would do "it", at least I take my destiny in my own hands.

An example of how I would interpret "it": I'm a Paramedic, I have to make descisions as to what medical interventions to preform on people, many Paramedics I know, choose to do little or nothing except drive real fast to the hospital, the theory being if the person dies at least they weren't the one to kill them (fear of making a mistake or doing something wrong).. but their inaction IS what killed them. Every medical intervention has a positive and a negative effect, we must try to decide when the benefits outweigh the risks... so many simple avoid the risks by doing nothing... I choose to do the best for my patients, at least if they don't make it, I can said I tried my best.
I do regreat a great many mistakes in my life, but I hope I never regreat not trying.

Damn right I would. Regret not trying at all. I want to experience as much as possible and never wonder what may have been.

good question.

if regret were unavoidable, I would rather regret not doing something than having done something.

In my experience you are presenting a choice between a missed opportunity or a mistake.

I would find it easier to live with having missed an opportunity than having made some drastic mistake.

It's much better to regret mistakes than to regret not trying at all

In a situation like that, I would do whatever benefited me the most whether it be the most fun or if there is actual gain in it. Since there are some sort of consequences either way, I would determine the pros and cons of each in my head and choose the one that had a higher ration of pros to cons.

In life you are not spost to have regrets, but experiences that you will either do again or not do again. This is how you learn about life with experiencing things. Remember no regrets.

I'd regret not trying at all. You only live once. Mistakes are well worth learning from. We all make them.

Depending on what "IT" is, most likely I'd regret not trying something at all. Especially if it wasn't something that wouldn't cause harm to anyone else nor to me.

Yes, I always go for it.
Regret it, not a chance. If I'm screwed no matter what, I'm going to enjoy the breaking/smashing/fuss to the max.
