Its about £402 per oz for 24ct pure. So your 9ct 1oz gold chain is worth about £150. In practice dealers will give you just over half that- about £80. Hang on to your gold stuff if you can.. in times of recession and uncertainty in the money markets, people buy gold, driving prices up. Some estimates predict 20-30% rise over next 6 months!

if you are trying to raise money quick,dont go to a jeweller,as you will get next to nothing,either go to cash-converters or pawn it,at least if you pawn it and you want a certain ring you can get it back. wishing you a happy christmas,and a better new year,good luck kid!
