Ok . . . so I know everyone is going to say I shouldn't care - BUT I will most likely be seen by strangers. My hospital puts there Drs on call & most likely it will not be my OB.

I have not been able to clean up my vajay area due to not caring and just not being able to reach! I tried to trim today and thought I was going to fall over - and I was so exhausted after! Because of this . . . I will most likey get razor rash or bumps. I planned on cleaning up - not shaving the entire area but now I think I may just forget it. I am gettign a good product that is suppose to help w/ bumps but . . . should I just forget it?

Did you even care? Am I crazy?

BTW, I am 39 weeks, due 12/25 and got my membranes stripped today so it could be anytime now (we hope).

Well I do and I'm 38+ wks. It is sooo hard cause I cannot see a thing. I usually do it with a powered trimmer..you know the ones you put batteries in and it comes with attachments...that's what I use. I usually do it over the toilet so the hairs can be flushed. Now it's almost impossible but I sit ( you can squat)on the toilet(lid up) and use a hand mirror to see and shave it..I trim it..not bald but almost cause I don't use an attachment. If you don't want it bald don't shave against the growth. ANd do not use a regular razor.. btw it's not weird to do that. I do it all the time especially when I go to the doctor's office(my midwife). YOu don't want it all messy down there..it's nice to be groomed and well kept even if you are pregnant.

Let me say that I am very shy and have always worried how things looked when I would go to the Gyno for check ups. I was really worried about that. I trimmed at 36 weeks for the start of internal exams. At 38 weeks, it was just too hard to reach and I gave up. I ended up going over due and never bothered with trimming down there. When labor started, it was the last thing on my mind. I had 2 nursing students holding my legs during labor, and my midwife had a student with her as well. Honestly I was more embarrassed by the sounds I made when contractions hit, and could care less how things looked down there. They see naked women every day.

During delivery I demanded that I be allowed to wear a bra. Then in recovery I had my boobs out all day for breastfeeding and half the nursing staff prolly saw. I really didn't care.

The only person who will care is you. Do what makes you feel comfortable. You don't need to impress the nurses with a clean shave.

LOL! Why are we so crazy? I absolutely care. I tried to do a little "landscaping" a few days ago. Whew! I'm still worn out! When I was prego with my daughter I made my hubby do it. I just got into a convenient position and let him trim me pretty short with the clippers. I did the part with the razor using a mirror. Then I had him check me over since he could actually see it all.
It does get to the point where shaving with a razor is just about impossible, but at least getting the trim done is a huge improvement even if you don't have the nice narrow "lawn" that you usually do.

Your doctors would laugh their heads off to think a patient was worried about THAT. Truly they don't care!

Do you know over 75% of all women in labor excrete some poop? How's THAT for embarrasing? The nurse will wipe it away immediately for cleanliness sake, but there it is. If a person has decided to deliver babies for a living, believe me, they are not easily grossed out!

It is unlikely you will be shaved, that is an outmoded practice.

I'd planned on having my husband help me out with getting "all ready to go" after I'd gone to my 36 week checkup...unfortunately I didn't get a chance since they decided to take him that day and I got a bikini shave by the nurse to prep for the c-section *rme*

I completely understand *wanting* to be all trimmed up...but if it's more hassle than it's worth, skip it...no one there will really care...believe me, they've seen it all!

Don't think you're vain. I though about it too. I tried to keep the area upkept during my pregnancy, but as you can see it's difficult. Truth is, when you go into labor, you could care less who sees it and what it looks like when they do! Your caregivers are going to see the worst of you in every sense of the word. Congrats and good luck.

At the largest size, my baby bump went out to over a foot and an half a foot in front of me. I'm short, with short arms AND short fingers. NEVER did I miss a chance to clean my area and take special care of trimming when going to the ob/gyn....

Sorry.

Well, you can trim, but when it's time to go in to have the baby, they're gonna shave you themselves no matter what, even if you just did. So don't worry, but do "clean up." Don't want to make baby sick.... Don't have to worry about the trimming so much, coz you really don't need to be poking yourself with sharp instruments accidentally (I had a helper when I was REALLY big) but you should clean.

I would care, personally, but only before labor most likely. As soon as it starts that will likely be the last thing on my mind. However, my husband will be shaving me when I can no longer reach.

yeah i think about it too....but if you think about it...they are doctors and im sure they have seen everything...and when you are in labor im sure it wont be on your mind...even if it is now.

but dont worry it is very normal to think about it...i was planning on taking a shower after i start going into early labor and clean up...kinda sounds stupid but i kinda feel the same way you do!!

but if you cant or dont have enough time dont worry!!! they do not judge and have prob. seen much worse/do not care anyways!!! they are just there to help you deliver your beautiful baby!

congrats and good luck! i dont have long either.

Trust me..it's not just you. I am the exact same way and totally freaked out about strangers seeing my hoohoo. I do what I can by myself and my hubby helps out with the rest. I'm sure I won't even care though when I am in actual labor.
