I figure that if I were living in a foreign land, I would want most to be home at Christmas time.
I am a very sentimental, family-focused person and I think there is no occasion that provides a better bonding, feel-good environment than Christmas.
It also feels good to be able to experience things that you can not experience in another country (or even if thyere is something like it, it never really is the same) - - - like simbang gabi complete with puto bumbong and tsaa, caroling from house to house to house, decorating the house with those Las Pinas lanterns, and having parties almost every night as Christmas nears.
The weather is also better, and the balikbayan is not inconvenienced by the heat of the summer months.
Finally, most of your relatives are on vacation in between Christmas and New Year, so there is higher probability you will catch whoever you want to catch up with.

Both Christmas and summer vacations are peak seasons for balikbayan trip. But it all depends upon your purpose of the trip. If you it's more of family reunion, then Christmas time is the option. If you need to travel for pleasure and leisure, then Summer trip is the option.

When financial is not a problem, Christmas is the best time to make a trip than summer. You feel the actual Holiday in Phil than anywhere else. That's how I feel. I miss 'Simbang Gabi' they only have Christmas Eve mass of which I attend every year in where I live at.

If you've lived in America then you know Christmas in PI is not the same. But its nice, but not the same. Easter is very very nice, and even All Souls Day are bigger I think. If you go in Christmas here are the disadvantages:
1. More money to fly.
2. Crowded time to travel
3. Rolling black outs
4. Wet season
5. No time for family to go sight seeing
Here are the advanatages for christmas trip:
1. You'll be with family for chirstmas
2. Anytime home is a good time home
3. Neices, nephews, and cousins are on vacation and home for at least a week, and you can probably go sight seeing with them
Here are disadvantages of summer:
1. The temps are: Hot, hotter, oh my it's so hot!
1.5 Your family might not have A/C
2. Travels a little high during the summer for pricing I think
3. School in PI starts around July so neices, cousins and nephews are too busy to hang out with you
Advantages of summer:
1. Good photos
2. Nice for beach and travel depending on where you go
Try considering a Easter trip maybe, that's a great time, it doesn't last long, then you can travel with family. School is out so you can enjoy time with neices, nephews, and cousins, and probably have easier time to get trip going. There are three harvests a year so check to see when they are as this is a busy time for farming families (if your family is a farming family).

Either of the two is fine. You still get to have a family reunion or a reunion with old friends. Both can become special occasions for you, it really depends on how you would like to spend those days. However, Christmas and summer are also both peak seasons so you might have a difficult time getting a booking. Book in advance.

Thise are both peak season for airline tickets, so no price differance. I would say Christmas because it's the beginning of dry season and much cooler here than summertime.

anytime is a good time to visit home. x'mas season is more expensive in terms of "pasalubong"...hehehe. but if you plan a lot of traveling while in the p.i. , summer is the best time to travel around. everything is a bit expensive during the x'mas season
