just say that you've heard it before. thats why people should always say "stop me if you heard this before"

I worked with a lot of Alzheimer's patients and I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard jokes more than once. Not only jokes either, stories(which have more stuff added everytime they tell it), and sometimes it's lies that they're unaware of...like a ranch across the street when there's a 7-11 there...

answering your question....if you've ever seen the look on someone's face when they're telling you a joke, and how excited they are that you're going to get a giggle out of it, it's worth the couple seconds of hearing it once more just to give them satisfaction

I'd let them finish. I may not always find the joke funny the second time around, but I'd laugh anyway. After all, the person was nice enough to tell me a joke.

I let them finish. They are excited about the joke and I don't spoil it for them. I laugh if it is funny, but if it was never a funny joke to begin with, I just say, "I think I have heard that before."

Depends, reasons I wouldnt stop them~they are a person who is just hard to shut up, I really enjoy the joke, I can tell they enjoy telling it, I dont want to prolong the agony of the conversation by interupting them.
Reasons I would~not in the mood to hear that joke again, they dont tell jokes well anyway, want to get out of the conversation with them and that is a great opportunity.
More often than not I listen to the joke and then say something like "Oh yea, ive heard that one" giving the impression that they just jogged my memory of hearing that joke sometime in the past.

It depends on the joke. If it's worth hearing again, I'll let them finish. If it's something not too funny, I stop them as soon as I know I've heard it before.

Theres two choices.
Either listen to the entire joke, give a little laugh and inform then you've already heard it.
OR
Once you realize that you've heard the joke before, blurt out the punch line. Thats what I do.

I let them finish, because everybody tells a joke differently. Yes, it would be still funny.

it depends on the person telling the joke and the joke being told...
if its someone very close, i do say them that i have heard it b4....but most of the time, i let them finish it...

and also, if the joke being told is REALLY funny, i would find it funny...

I usually stop them in the middle. Unless its an inside joke then I'll almost always find it funny.

I usually let them finish but sometimes I stop them. And I always laugh because I'm just an insanely perky person.
