I've seen them both, but I don't remember the character's names. If Herman was the black coach, then the two men illustrate that, unlike the perceptions of the time, character has nothing to do with race.
In the face of adversity, both men stood the moral high ground. Herman tried to help his team see that the truth of a person's heart has nothing to do with how others see him. Atticus tried to help his town see the same thing.
