We are having friends over Christmas Eve for snacks and a few laughs. We do not drink, we are both children of alcoholic parents and find drinking a big turn off, so I have told the friends that there will be no alcohol served. Would it be rude of me to ask them to not bring their own either?

Also there will be a couple here that are reformed alcoholics and I really don't feel they should be exposed to drinking.

No need to apologize.
This is an alcohol free home. Please help us keep it that way.
or " NO BYOB " or just tell them. You can be tactful & firm.

I admire your growth Viv. You might expect some snide remarks as you move closer to the Lord. I was called a prude by my own cousin in a circle of friends at the bowling alley for refusing to look at nasty jokes & cartoons. Didn't bother me & I became stronger in my faith because of it. Praise God.~~~

NOT at all.......it is your house and your rules....... and it is a good idea to say something like 'alcohol free" rather than you will not be serving any alcohol, that way there are no misunderstandings.....
