i want to make the gas for 2 cycle engine and use 87 so i can share with mower Do i need to buy octane booster? The only reason to use higher octane would be for higher RPM motors, like trimmers, weed eaters. i need to use higher octane than 87 because THE MANUAL SAYS TO USE HIGHER OCTANE GAS TO REDUCE THE BUILD UP OF CARBON IN THE 2 CYCLE ENGINE

OK you keep asking this for some reason. Why do want to MAKE high octane gas? Using octane booster is really expensive way to do this. If you are just talking about lawn equipment, then the manufacturer is talking about regular super gas (like 91 octane) that you can get at the station.

If you were to buy high octane gas - 1 gallon will cost you about $0.35 extra. If you were to add octane booster it will probably cost you about $0.50 to $1 per gallon (and all the hassle).

Is there a reason why you want to MAKE it. You do know that you can always use high octane gas for equipment made for regular gas? Right?

What I mean is that you could just share high octane on both lawn mowers AND weed wackers, etc.

If you really don't want to "waste" money by using high octane gas on lawn mowers, why not just get 2 gas tanks?

Good Luck

Do not use AvGas, it has lead in it.

87 Octane is fine for the garden tools like a trimmer. If you want a boost, then buy some from the autoparts store.

Don't get crazy with the stuff. To much and it can burn out the cylinder.

So buy Premium gas. By the time you hunt down the boosters that mostly do not work and are expensive compared to just getting premium. And unless the maker recomend a higher octane use what they tell you.

If you have any friends who fly a plane. They could get you some aviation gas, (100 octane I think) to mix.
