okay I say Merry Christmas personally because we are celebrating Christ and his birth. Some people do not like saying Merry Christmas, they prefer Happy Holidays. I want to know what you say? please explain why you say this too. explain why you say this greeting. Use plenty of details if you want. I know that I would. Who ever has the best answer and explains fully why they say such greetings gets best answer(10points) for Christmas! Are you up for the challenge?

Ok. Here we go:

I say MERRY CHRISTMAS because that's what I celebrate. And I'm sorry if it offends non christians, but i don't care. if a jewish person were to say happy hannakah to me, i wouldn't be offended. i think it's ridiculous how christians are always criticized for being "intolerant". just because we are saying merry christmas doens't mean we are trying to force our belifs on ANYBODY. it also erks me that people want to call CHRISTMAS tress holiday trees. are you KIDDING me? it's a CHRISTMAS tree because it's used for CHRISTMAS! how would the jews (sorry for picking on you guys) feel if i called a menorah a HOLIDAY candle? they would be offended, right? i think people just need to lighten up a little bit and stop freaking out about the word CHRISTMAS!

sorry for the rant. hope i got my point across. ;)

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I usually say merry christmas but only because that is what I'm used to - having grown up in America; but being an Indian, I "should" prefer Happy Holidays because it is more general and can be said to anyone without wondering "oh wait does this person celebrate Christmas?"
I personally don't prefer either way, as long as the wish is true - it shouldn't matter because we all get Christmas - or Winter - Break in America during this time and it is a time we all spend with our family.
Either way - Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you!!!!!

Both. I do it for the above reasons described. I have friends that are either atheist or agnostic that celebrate the "secular" Christmas in terms of Santa and Frosty but do not celebrate the religious significance of the holiday. I also have friends of other religions such as being Jewish who observe an alternative holiday. In that case, Merry Christmas is not appropriate. I use Merry Christmas for anyone that is Christian and understands the "true" meaning of what the celebration is really about.

I say Merry Christmas. If they are going to celebrate the season they shouldn't mind Christmas being mentioned.

Merry Christmas! All this political correctness has watered down all individual traditions to a generic Happy Holidays. I say Merry Christmas because it's what my family and I are celebrating... the birth of Christ. My Jewish friends get a Happy Hanukkah from me, but they tell me Merry Christmas. It's our way of respecting one another's beliefs and traditions.

Yes, then I go on to say Happy Hanukkah, Happy Boxing Day, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy New Year, Happy Chinese New Year, and Merry Little Christmas. People mostly know that all these Holidays fall in roughly the same frame of time, so I let them know I want them to enjoy whichever holiday(s) they choose to celebrate. If I knew of other holidays that were celebrated at this time of year, I would include them, but I don't, so this is what I say.

I say Happy Christmas because it's a mix of Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Christmas is a time to be happy and enjoy your time with family and friends . . .

I say Merry Christmas to my friends and family who I know won't be offended or any thing. But if it is just some random person I will say Happy Holidays because that covers whatever holiday they celebrate. That way we all get along.

I say Merry Christmas because Happy Holidays is referring to all the December holidays like Hanukah and Kwanza, both of which I don't celebrate.

Merry Christmas. It is afterall the celebration of the birth of Chirst as you said. Without the acknowledgment of Christ there would be no holiday. So, merry Christmas! Happy Christmas. However you say it, it's about CHRISTmas.
