Most country music stars are so busy recording and touring that they don't have time to live the "country life", even if they happen to live in the country. I believe they just sing about what they think the ideal life would be.

If you want country, go out to the country music rodeos and places similar where real artists are on stage. There are some who don't know what they're singing about half the time, and then there are those like Sara Storer (Australian Artists) who do know what they're talking about because they have lived out in the bush, have seen many places and experienced many things.
Unless you know an artists background you won't really know if they know what they're takling about. The only reason I now of Sara Storer is because I met her in my home town (which is a sleepy town in Queensland) and have seen her biography.
It just goes to show, that you never really do know...

A lot of them live on ranches...out in the country. And even if they don't, maybe they grew up in the country, so they can retain that passion from childhood.
I grew up in the country-I live in an apartment now. I hate it. I will always be a country girl. It isn't something you really grow out of.

Country doesn't mean poor.
You don't have to live in the city to have a nice house with lots of land and all the things you worked for.
I'll take the country any day.

For those who didn't choose country as a lifestyle and still appreciate the music, please don't take this question as a slap to the noggin. You have your roots. We're discussing the ones with roots in country.
The only two 100% country singers in my opinion are George Strait and the late Chris LeDoux, both of whom won pro rodeo competitions while building their fan base. Chris used to sell records and cassettes out of the back of his truck during rodeos. Now THAT's country.

Most of them are snobs who drive snobby cars, not the pick ups they sing about in their cars, and live in fancy homes, send their kids to fancy schools and don't really live "country" like they sing about.
