They thrash Sri Lanka, who proceed to give England a damn good thrashing and then they coast over the Kiwis. No-one fancies India to do much over there. Are they just too good for everyone else

Most indians here that are saying that india can stop australia are saying it on emotion, not through their mind. From inside we indians know it very well that australia is an extremely tough team to beat ever since they won the 1999 world cup.

We are aware of how Australia humiliated us in the 2003 world cup final by scoring 359 against the best of our bowling attack and thats one of the most painful memories of cricket for me.

Also i cannot forget the previous Indian tours of Australia. I still remember the december 1999 india's tour of australia. India lost the test matches by margins like 137 runs and an innings that too in 3 days. In one days, our batsmen could not even score more than 99 runs. India got whitewashed in all tests and one days.

8 years later, since the disasterous India's tour of Australia things have still not changed much. The players are still the same for India. And Australian team also many of the players are same.

The 2003/2004 India's tour of Australia was slightly better where India managed to win 1 test and a one day too.

I do hope that India is able to beat Australia, but i know it from inside that as of now it cannot be done.

Maybe in the future India could beat Australia when fresh talent and fresh players represent India's cricket team after the current players retire or their generation is swept away.

But so far, no country seems to overpower Australia.

Well, certainly our very own Kiwi's can't. (At the moment I'm not sure the Black Caps could bat their way out of a wet paper bag.) I'd give India a chance; more than anyone else right at this moment.
But to be honest...right now Australian cricket is light years ahead of the rest of the world

The answer is NO. And that is because Australia is a rich country. Perhaps the richest cricket playing nation. And rich countries perform very well in sports and olympics too. Australia takes lots of medals in olympics, how much medals do india, pakistan and sri lanka take in olympics?

nowadays sports development consumes too much money. countries which pour in more money for development of athletes get best results. Technology, grounds, infrastructure, planning etc etc all require several millions of dollars.

Other cricket countries don't have so much funds and can't invest into cricket the way Australia does.

There is also a saying, which says,

"more money means more power" -- and this sums it all for Australia.

Ganguly's Indians stopped the Aussie juggernaut when it was threatening to scale unheard-of dimensions under Steve Waugh. Now, Kumble's Indians are going to do it again to Ricky Ponting's "Invincibles" (Invincible against other Test teams, but not India). Go India !

God you people are pathetic. Australia the richest cricket nation? Get real! We are no different to England, S,Africa, West Indies etc. You are such losers, you think you can't beat us, therein lies your defeat. You give up before you even begin. If our government threw money at our players like yours does, they would all be millionaires. Stop being so negative & accept that we win because our players are the best. You can't win if you are only in it for the money.Your players should play for the love of the game & national pride.

Why not?

India has the potential to stop the winning streak of Aussies in Tests.

Come on India....
