Ok - this is the way it goes. It started this am - no problem. I got out of work - it started - no problem. I got home and turned it offf. Had to go somewhere 5 minutes later - it wouldn't start. It did chatter. I jump started it and it started right up. Stopped somewhere for 45 minutes. Started back up. I bet it is dead in the am. Does this sound like a battery problem or a starter problem?

first i would clean your battery cables. If that does not fix it go to auto zone they will test the battery for free. if it test good then its a good chance your starter maybe having issues but have the battery checked first.

Combination of stater, battery and battery cable (wire from battery to starter).
Check if your battery has enough cranks, (see your manufacture manual). Check if battery cable (wire) is not contaminated with white substances in both sides, this contamination do not allow good electricity from battery.
Inside of stater are two little coils spring in contact with the main core, this coils need good contact against the core to start, if they do not, your starter just sound with "click".
Check the cheaper parts first, wire and battery, then go to starter.

It's probably a battery problem. You should get it checked though before you buy a new battery.

Can't tell without a meter. For $10 you can get one and know for sure. It's the cheap way out.

Or a loose battery cable, or the alternator or belt?

Sorry... just finishing your question for you.
