Abortion, religion, gunlaw, immigrants and tax issues dominate Y Answers. The country that doesn't deal well in it's relations with other countries, respond to climate change, natural disasters and resource shortages will be in trouble. Also education, employment, obesity, healthcare and infrastructure including bridges and transport are important. Corruption can ruin a nation. Why don't serious questions get considered in US politics?

Alas, you have come to realise the US is high on "infotainment". News that is more along the lines of gossip than of significant reporting of pertinent national issues. You have noticed the symptoms of this nefarious "infotainment."
Think of how much air time was wasted by all the major American television news networks to cover worthless stories involving people who murdered their spouses or celebrities getting drunk. Even the BBC is guilty, with so many pointless stories about Princess Diana. It is not news, it is trash, and it belongs in magazines like the National Enquirer or Us Weekly.
Unfortunately, a well informed public is key to a successful democracy. What kind of democracy are you going to get when the average American hears more about Brittany Speares than just about anything else? One that crumbles!
Also, I ask of you to consider immigration an issue of significant national importance. It affects our national integrity culturally, economically, and politically. Ask yourself: What could possibly happen by adding 37.5 million people (legal and illegal) to the US annually?

Why do others argue about American policies instead of attending to problems in their own countries? Most on here come from countries that also have lame duck leaders and ineffective policy just like we do.

America tends to act like a third world country when it comes to political issues.

Yeah well how about World Poverty and AIDS??
There are so many people who honestly dont give a crap about the suffering of others and it really pisses me off because I have to spend my whole day with them!!!!!!!!!
We are the most powerful country in the freaking world!
If anyone has the power to change it, WE DO! But it seems no one can manage to look outside themselves and their borders and see what is really happening, let alone try to make a difference! Instead I spend my day get to hear about how this one girls "has like, OMG, 72 pairs of shoes, but thats not nearly enough" when some people dont even have ANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry, letting off steam.

I think you are wrong, specially in election time, all those issues are in forefront of every candidates mind ,and people expect the candidate to make their view points clear ,before they could make their mind who to choose for the president.

agree totally.
gigantic issues like waste in government, introduction of term limits and logical national priorities are all but ignored while everyone foams about abortion and illegal immigration (and shrinks away from any practical solutions.)

I don't agree with your opinions about what does and doesn't matter. Killing unborn children, taking away constitutional rights (gun ownership) unregulated millions of illegals crossing our borders, these are critical issues. I find most of your "important issues" to be far less important.
