Neverwinter Nights 2 maybe?

If he wants a similar game to Warcraft/Starcraft, then "Guild Wars" would be a good option.
It's a similar game in the fact that it is online. One nice thing is once you buy it, you don't have to pay for the online time, that is included - no monthly fees and all that.
it's a great warrior conquest game. it has lots of quests to complete. lots of ways to play with others online. there are quests where you can do them alone, some where you have to be on a team and complete it together.
there are lots of expansion packs available for guild wars now. it's a great overall game. incredible graphics, fantastic storyline, great online solo and team play.
as far as other ideas - any other interests/disinterests he has? we could help with other ideas if you want to give him something else other than a puter game.

Black & White 2 if he is into those medievelish games....
Your basicly a god.
You can be good or evil.
And you are incharge of your own empire.
You have your own giant creature and you teach him good or evil things.
You can teach your creature not to eat certain things such as your minions.
You can teach him to be evil and eat your minions.
Its just tons of fun "i think" if you like strategy games....
You also get your own armies to fight for you including your creature fights for you....
Go with Black & White 2....
Its rated T for teen +its a great strategy game!!! :)
....You would sort of need the first Black & White to get the story... But its still pretty fun ;)... a blast actually.
