I'll do one: Casablanca.
During unusual circumstances at the lounge he owns in Casablanca during WWII, a mysterious man meets his former lover and her injured new lover and is asked to help, as they are being being pursued by Nazis.

The mysterious man consults with his piano player and the local chief of police who both advise him regarding the resolution of the situation; the chief demonstrates his humanity by helping.

After a few close calls, the former lovers have one last final goodbye while an arranged-for plane awaits the fleeing couple and they are able to escape.
