it has to do with pheremones
The menstrual cycle consists of three phases: the menses, follicular (pre-ovulatory) and luteal (post-ovulatory) phases. One of the pheromones is released by women in the pre-ovulatory phase of their cycle and accelerates ovulation in others, that is, it shortens their cycle. The other one is emitted at the time of ovulation. It has a delaying effect and thus lengthens the others' cycle. The end result is that the cycles of women living closely tend to converge over time.

There is not evidence of this, but I've been told that women and hormones can start to balance out around the same time since you are around each other often. When I lived in a dorm, my dorm mates and I were menstrating around the same time. My roommate and I were only a week apart. Its crazy how it happens but when it comes down to us women we don't need much explaination...lol.

It's been scientifically proven that females who are around each other all the time get their periods at the same time. I think it has to do with hormones. Go look it up on google or a medical site, you can find a lot of info there!

It hasn't been scientifically proven, some studies show it happens, other show it doesn't. All of us girls have SEEN it happen at one time or another though, and supposedly it is due to pheromones. Pheromones are chemical messages passed between members of a species. You don't consciously notice them, but supposedly they may cause us to ovulate at the same time. Therefore, we menstruate at the same time. Fascinating!

Females that live together or spend a lot of time around each other will often start to cycle closer together. It is believed that we can pick up on chemical signals called pheromones, which are imperceptible smells that help us to know when other women are menstruating.
