I mean why do people lie over and over? It drives me nuts!

You have asked a very difficult question, being that there are many reasons why people lie.
Example, another way of dealing with pain.
Afraid that if they tell you the truth, you will get mad.
The list goes on and on.
Please don't think that I consider people who lie are doing the right think.
(I know doctors that lie to their patients to avoid telling them the real truth of their condition, for fear that they will not be able to deal with the truth).
Patients lie, to me and it is my job to catch them in their lies and confront them with the truth. (Some will love me for bringing out the truth, other will become violant).

Some people lie about themselves because they are trying to cover up something they did, or they are insecure. Others tell 'little white lies' to avoid hurting someone's feelings. To me, truth is the only way, hence my screen-name!

The real price is the time and effort to actually communicate with each other slowly and thoughtfully. This price is uncomfortable and nerve wracking, but worth it.
