Tojo resigned following the fall of saipan,he was a puppet and a fall guy,he was killed because dead men tell no tales.we are taught that he was the Japanese equivalent to Hitler, this simply not the case ,he was, at most; a member of a group of leading officers from the army faction of the military;and at least a lap dog for the emperor.history is still searching for the correct truth in the role played by the emperor in ww2 .by the end of the war Tojo had already been out "to pasture" for some time, with no contact to the power structure of japan.the emperor couldn't pay so japan served up Tojo,he had no royal blood, and as a member of army faction of officers deemed responsible,he was asked.it must be said he agreeded to go and acked like a samuri to the end.

Was he the Japanese Admiral who pushed Japan to attack the US Navy at Pearl Harbor in '41? He thought that they could destroy Americans sea power and they'd be free to conquor the rest of Asia, Indonesia and Austrilia. The Japanese were furious that American had put an oil embargo on Japan--as they depended upon foreign oil to power their conquests. He thought that American would not have the will to combat them.-----One Admiral warned that that would be like attacking a hornets nest? Tojo was executed as a war criminal.
