The least expensive way, if you have some able bodies to help, would be to rent a truck. A convenient way, but more costly is to rent one of the mobile storage units, like PODS, there are a few others now, competition is good. They deliver it to your home and you can take your time loading it up. When its ready to be moved to the new home, they come and pick it up, and move it for you. Then you take your time unloading it. When it's empty they come and remove it.

First-Decide what you absolutely need to take with you. Do not take old, worn-out sofas, old rugs, etc.
Next, of the things you might not take, consider donating them....you get a tax deduction, with very little time spent selling them. About 30% of the declared value.

Next, if you do want to sell the items, do so. Put them in a local advertising paper, or have a tag sale, or Garage sale.

Now, you are down to the nitty, Gritty. Have a local Moving company come out , and give you an estimate. It is free, and will tell you how much you have to move. Then , go to Uhaul, and other truck providers, and rent a truck one size larger than the Moving Co estimated. This is because you probably cannot pack the furniture, and boxes as tightly as a professional. Then rent the truck.. Most rental places have helpful directions on how to load. READ THEM.
The biggest source of claims in moving are from rubbing, and scratching. 10 miles, or 1000 miles. It makes no diffference. Put cardbouard, or blankets betwen any valuable furniture, and any othe hard objects.

Good luck.
