The link below is to an article called "How to Find Legal Help When You Can't Afford It" and it lists several online legal resources that might help.
For example, the Court Reference.com site has a “Courts Online” section for each state that offers links to a wide variety of free online legal resources, including online court forms, self-help services, legal research links, attorney referral services and links to organizations offering free or low-cost legal services. This site also has a Court Directory with contact information for courts, including websites and online record search services.
You may want to look into your state's bar association or other regulation of attorneys. I'm not sure how you end up with nothing after you have been injured - every case is different but there may be an agency that handles attorney discipline that might look into this situation for you.

Honestly, just based on what you wrote, you wouldn't get that much money. Here's the deal... just because you were in an accident and your car was totaled and it wasn't your fault, doesn't mean you should get paid. The reality is that you have absolutely no diagnostic testing done, such as an MRI of the Cervical and Lumbar Spine which are for your neck and back. How can a chiropractor prove that you are really injured without knowing exactly where the damage is? He can't. What you should do and take this upon yourself.....DO NOT SIGN A RELEASE YET....(1) Switch Chiropractors, first because I'm sure your insurance company is still paying. (2) I don't know what state you live in but when you most states are no-fault benefits states meaning fault or not, your own insurance company will cover your medical bills and only leave you your deductible and copay, if it applies to your state. There's no way in hell your chiropractors bill should be 2K. No way. (3) Have your new chiropractor send you for 2 MRIS: Cervical and Lumbar. If you have a herniation in any of those MRIs, you'd be stupid to take anything less than 10K. (4) after switching chiros, switch attorneys. You can switch b/c your contract with your lawyer is contingent based on what is recovered, less his expenses. Your lawyer's only expense would be your medical records for the hospital and chiropractor (keep in mind that if your chiropractor did not give him a narrative report, then he should've paid the standard fee for records) and any mailing he may charge (e.g. stamps, envelopes, paper, faxing). So if you switch lawyers, your new lawyer will take care of your old lawyer and will work something out with him.
(5) Report the doctor to the police b/c i'm sure you are not the only one he's done this too but only if you are prepared to go through a lot. (6) If anything else hurts you, go see a doctor in that speciality. Don't cut yourself short b/c the reality is that insurance is paying now and they won't pay for your treatment later. (7) If you have already signed a Release and gave it up, then your case is officially over. There is nothing you can do. However, if you did, make sure you get a complete breakdown of your attorney expenses....meaning ask him for copies of checks and confirm those payments with that person. Don't let him screw you out of the little money. If he can't provide you with proof of payments, then contact a Legal Malpractice Attorney and have his aZZ audited. And contact your state's Attorney Ethics Committee. We'll see who he'll like to play with.
This is the best advice you will get, I will assure you.

Find yourself a good lawyer...one that deals with personal injuries (Don't just go to small claims). Insurance companies want to keep their money and if you don't put up a fight, they can get away with it. Collect as much proof as you can eg bills, photos of the car/injuries you sustained. Ask a doctor for a letter of your medical condition...preferably one you have dealt with and although it may cost a bit.. it's worth every penny. Many times you can get more money after you do all these things than the original insurance company had offered. Stress as well for lost wages, pain and suffering. Good luck to you!!

You should never have gone to an attorney, in most cases your own insurance company takes care of all this, they will deal with the other insurance company. The insurance company of the party at fault should be taking care of your medical bills, if you are looking for extra compensation for time and suffering I suggest you don't hold your breath. Just be glad if you don't have to pay anything out of your own pocket and if they are replacing your vehicle.

What was the Inappropriate things? If you are really hurt, the last thing you want to see is a chiropractor. Lawyers love that type of recommendation because it's all about frivolous lawsuits!

You need another lawyer. Assuming it was the other guy's fault (fault laws vary by state), he is liable for any damages (auto repair/replacement, and medical). Oh, and it seems to be standard practice to sue for attorney fees.

If it were me, I think I'd be talking to another attorney. Something doesn't quite sound right here.
