Well, Candy Cane is OK...

My friend's dog had puppies really close to Christmas. There was a lot of them... 11 puppies!!! Wow. Well, they also wanted to name the something that has to do with Christmas, so they named half of them after the reindeer! ( I think that is a cute idea. There was Cupid, Rudolph, Dancer, Dasher, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Donner, and Blitzen. )

Then, for the rest she made-up some names. Like Santa's little Helper. ( Which was changed to Santa's Big Helper, which was shortened to "Big". )

Here are some other ones:

Snow ( If it's white! )

Gingerbread ( Which can be shortened to Ginger, then as a nickname, "Gingy" )

Holly Berry ( Shortened to "Holly" )

Noel

Joy

Sugar Plum

Mistletoe ( Shortened to "Missy", of course! )

And ya, CandyCane is OK . Hope I helped!!!

:)

How about Noel, Natale, Navidad?
Or Joy, Joyeux, Feliz?
Sugarplum, Peppermint, Fruitcake (lol)
Nicholas, Santa, Elf, Mrs. Claus
Angel, Mittens, Bell, Star, King

And the obvious:
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid Donder or Blitzen!

Good luck!

I think that's a really cute name, but I don't think the dog's gonna learn that long name. For our dogs, we just give them first and middle names and then we just call them by a nickname for short and they seem to understand it really well.

For Candycane, it might be Candy

Here's the name test for a dog: Pretend it is 4am on a Monday morning. The dog is out in the fenced yard, barking at the neighbor who is leaving to go to his job. You need to tell the dog to shut up, before the neighbors start yelling at you. So you yell the dog's name. Did you feel stupid yelling that name? Then choose another. LOL.
Name the dog whatever you like, and call it something for short.
Candy cane is cute, but so is Holly, star, angel, and chocolate chip. My friend should have named her dog Christmas Ham, because he is.

I think Candycane is cute!! Maybe Stocking, or Santa for a boy, or Mrs.Claus for a girl, or Mistletoe, or Holly, or Frosty, or Snowball, or Snowflake or Poinsettia (theres a mouthful) uhhh I am out of ideas

Personally, I don't like that for a dog's name or any name at all. That's just me though, I don't really like cutsey names.
It does also seem like somewhat of a mouthful. Maybe you can practise saying the name... like you are calling him and use the name followed by a command. See how that sounds to you and how easily it rolls of your tongue when you are actually using the name.
I do like the name Cain though, but that's not really Christmasy.
I did like some of Reba's suggestions. Especially Joy and Vixen.

I find candycane a mouth full ... bows, tinsel, angel, king, noel, carol, snow, flakie, ... what ever you name the puppy, I';m sure it will be lovely. Merry Christmas.

What type of dog is it? Candycane won't work for a large or very masculine type dog. It's more poodle-ish
