OK, here's a true story for once.

Like most "stadia" I know of, the major sports arena where i live has a bit of a sordid history.

It was first built and sponsored by Delta Airlines; and hence named after them. After Delta started going under in '05, they liquidated it off to this rich "big man" business investor, who held it for two years.

Early this year, It was bought by an interesting company called "Energy Solutions", and renamed the "ENERGY SOLUTIONS ARENA!!!!" (at least that's what the sign says now......)

Just so you know, what Energy Solutions, Inc. does is dispose of nuclear waste. I use the term "dispose" loosely.

What they really do is charge people mucho dinero to take the stuff off their hands, and then ship it over to this gigantic, open air, concrete impoundment lot. The scrap of land is rented out of a local Native American reservation (population: 31), and hence is exempt from certain federal regulations.

They don't really do anything with the waste, they just park these huge stainless steel tanks on a big tarmac, surrounded by about 8 fences, in the middle of nowhere........ It's obviously a pretty lucrative buisness since they can afford to buy a stadium and name it after themselves.

Now the word is out, my state will take your extra N-waste, and in return, your basketball team can play against ours.

So, to answer your question, Yes. I prefer a stadium to be named after a person.....

And, No..........I am not authorized to sell any afore mentioned nuclear materials to you. Sorry.

Most definitely. The only problem now a days is..far too many folks have no idea who 'Joe Louis' was to begin with.

But even so, doesn't that have a better ring than say...'Roger's Centre' (formerly SkyDome as chosen by the fans). Pay homage to someone who exemplified the idea of sport..not the company who provides your cell phone, cable TV or heaven forbid...over booked airplane seats.
