You shouldn't have too. Emergency brakes have auto adjusters on the brake mechanism in drum brakes. DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT adjust by taking slack out of the cable or adjusting anything at the brake lever itself. That is not the proper way to adjust emergency brakes. A good thing to do is to take it to a reputable shop and have it checked. and if there is any adjustment possible, they will do it right. John D is telling how to adjust drum brakes.

there are usually two places you can adjust the emergency brake. Under the car you will see the cable coming from both back wheels goes up to a bracket and meets the cable coming from the brake lever. That is one adjusting point. It involves turning a nut to take the slack out of the cable.
If the car has a lever between the seats, you can remove the surround and there is a threaded rod on the end of the cable that has a nut you can adjust there also.

I assume you have rear disc brakes on that year, if you do there is no star adjuster as stated previously. There is a cable to tighten the slack as one person stated.

Go under car with a flat head screw driver and you'll see a little wheel that has teeth on it,bring a flash light so it's esier to see, then turn the little wheel behind there till it's where you want it,then do other side, dont over do it though.

Emergency, not emerygancy.
Brake, not break.

And what do you mean adjust? Is the e-brake not working properly? If that's the case you probably need to replace the rear pads/shoes/
