that is a great question, i think it is because people in general feel invincible behind the wheel, they get that, it won't happen to me thought,

I can't speak for everyone, but my "self-preservation" instinct is probably at it's most highest level when I'm driving. I've seen far too many fatal accidents...lost my own grandmother in one. My dad is a retired police officer, and all the while when I was growing up he stressed to me being safe on the road. He's seen a lot of tragedies related to car accidents. He taught me to be a defensive driver...someone who anticipates what might happen before it does, and he taught me to look for possible problems. When he taught me how to drive he had me practice (much!) in icy conditions, having me practice regaining control of the vehicle (we'd practice in icy parking lots, putting the car into a slide on purpose just so I could practice how to correct the situation safely)... I think that most people are cognizant of the dangers inherent in driving, but teen aged drivers have a mentality of being invincible, and those are the drivers I worry about and really watch out for.

this question sounds like it refers to road rage to me. darn slow drivers, red lights galore. How much later can i be?or, could be someone with a lead foot and driving slow seems impossible to do unless your constantly hitting on your breaks .
i know there are many adv for driving the sped limit, one most important is u save on gas because you don't burn as much fuel and also mileage since your getting more for your money. People gotta learn to slow down these days. Especially in the city because your speeding just to slam your breaks at either a light or a car ahead since there is so much traffic. for myself i'm never in a hurry to go somewhere unless i think i might be late for work. But i don't have to worry about that at the moment, i'm soon to be unemployed!

Well i think that we as humans drive really carefully when we first get our cars / whatever but once we drive for a while we dont pay as much attention to the road as well as other people.

Because people behind the wheel think they are the best driver and they become too cocky. they think they're invincible and that nothing bad will happen. They think "I wont mess up...i've been doing this for a long time". But thats not always that case.

Where do you live that everyone is driving like this? I live in a major city and I see a few people driving recklessly, but most people are driving moderately safe. Perhaps you are a teen?

Well, I believe most of us have the mentality that we have this metal shell around us. And that we're invincible. And 'it could never happen to me' mentality.
Most people just don't understand. We aren't invincible. Anything could happen in a flash.

dont you like to get somewhere faster, dont you like a rush of adrenaline? people are busy and do not like to be late, they like to get places faster even though it may not be safe.
