My 12-year-old son has eczema on his legs and arms. He has all the lotion he needs to clear it up, but seldom bothers to apply them. When I volunteer or insist to put lotion on his legs and arms, suggest that he does so, or tell him I am going to slather it on him after his bath/shower it invariably turns into a battle or argument. His legs and arms are in such a bad state and I really do want to help.

He has swimming lessons on mondays and thursdays, those are the only times I can put it on him, or else his skin breaks out from the chlorine.

What do you advise?

Yes we have been to the Dermintologist. She gave the lotion we need for him.

At swimming lessons, he is in swimming lessons for 1 hour, his skin will break out and dried if we don't use lotion, so at this time its mandatory. As soon as he flops out, I tell him to put it on, he says noo so I say I'm not going to argue with you here, and at this time I just lather it on him myself, right in the pool where there is alot of people. Its the only thing I can do. He seems not to care.

You definitely need a good dermatologist to tailor your child's need in controlling his eczema earlier before it goes worst.
Your endless guidance as a mother includes taking good care of your child's health (skin health) and choosing a course of treatment that will work for him best. Have his eczema kept under control. He needs to watch what he eats and gets some sun on the area affected. He probably is allergic to the chlorine which is a strong chemical. Make sure he showers with soap and lots of water right after swimming see if that helps, if so, you know it was that. If not, he most likely needs his diet adjusted.

See a naturopath regarding what is upsetting his system to get this, they can suggest something.
