I used to snowboard, approx. 3 years ago but I outgrew my old snowboard. I just purchased a new snowboard online, a Forum Raider 163 cm. The board is more of a freestyle board. But my question is can I still use it for just riding down the mountain? I mean I know I can but will it stink performance wise? Will I notice a huge difference in getting a freestyle board rather than a freeride board? I won't be doing tricks any time soon. Thanks.

This board will work fine for all mountain riding - the only time you would want a stiffer board would be in icy conditions and that nasty corduroy groom on the runs - a free-ride board will handle these better. Also, deep powder would be harder on this board as there is no setback, but you can lean back more to compensate.

The advantage that you will have is that your twin board will be easier to ride switch and you will be able to pull off tricks in and out of the park easier.

Good Luck

LEN !! you will be fine dude. THe only decks that are hard to ride all mounatin are JIB decks. and the reason they are hard to ride all mountain is b/c they are Extreamly short. You got a 163 and you will be veryu happy with it. The forum raider is a sick deck and I would say 100% that you will be fine all mountain with that pig stick> HAPPY SHREEDING DUDE..

And since you have a freestyle deck now// Man up a little and try the park out : )
