Prosecution offered a terrible plea bargain.... half off the fine but charge still remains and full points. Charge is for new Stunt Driving but husband was doing 51 over in an 80 downhill. Stupid move, but it will financially devastate my family, has already cost thousands... and he may lose his job if the charge isn't reduced... He has an otherwise perfect record.

/I don't believe you ever talked to the prosecutor. If you got a speeding ticket and pleaded not guilty . The only thing you could do is send a letter( registered ) to the officer to see his evidence and notes. If he doesn't reply in 30 days they drop the case on a technicality. Go to court if he doesn't show you when you case. If he shows up change you plea and see if you qualify for work detail to pay your ticket. Let the Judged know that this in not going to be beneficial to the state. Those are the rules of the game learn to play by them.If you must win the case send him a couple of air plane ticket to a vaciation spot on or around the court date. Say he won a prize. just kidding

51 over in a 80???? That's 131 mph!!!

ANY plea deal that didn't involve jail time would seem good to me.

The willingness of a DA to plea down a case is dependent on one thing only - how confident is he that he can get a conviction if the case goes to trial?

Before the initial hearing a DA who's confident of getting a win 'might' offer a reduced fine or sentence to save the hassle of going to trial. Once a plea's been entered though, he's not likely to even offer the pre-plea bargain anymore unless, for some reason, he thinks he might lose.

What evidence does your husband have that he wasn't speeding?
