Yeah, many times. The worst was a really creepy event, too. Pam Bradford and I went out for dinner with friends on Hallowe'en, then decided to visit an old graveyard not far from her place.
We were deciphering the inscription on an ancient-looking tombstone, reading about some woman murdered at about age 20, and beginning to feel a bit spooked. The late night mist had arisen from the ground - a very strange thing to see when you're poking around a weedy, overgrown cemetery and checking out lichen-coated, mouldy old grave markers. The whole place also smelled strange.
Just as the moon was covered by some passing clouds, the whole place erupted! It was the automatic sprinkler system - and between the noises of the sprinklers, the hissing of the water spray, and of course the icy shock of the water, we were entirely stunned.
Poor Pam's heels hadn't exactly been easy to wear when we walked into the cemetery, and now her shoes instantly sank into the mud. We were completely soaked by the time her shoes were yanked out of the stucky muck, and we made our way out of the range of the sprinklers. It's a sign of how spooked, miserable, and uncomfortable we were that I didn't much notice how Pam's dress clung to her tall, slender, and well-endowed frame. (Well, yeah, I did notice enough to remember, later ....)
The car seats were soaked and muddy after I got Pam home. We discovered she had forgotten her house keys, and eventually I had to climb to the roof to open a second-story window, then help her up there so she could get in.
Yecch, that was a chilly end to our dating!

Oh yeah, it sucks the most! But one time as I was driving down the road I noticed that a sprinkler was malfunctioning and spraying into the road on the passenger side, well my friend likes the window rolled down and he is always sarcastic, needless to say, I laughed my balls off as he got sprayed!

Yeah. The other day I was sitting at the bus stop waiting for the bus, and the neighbors' sprinklers turn on, so when the bus came I was like, soaked.

Yes, when like people have their sprinklers on on the lawn and they go to the sidewalk... kinda rude! Of course not at this time of year.

Yes, quite often in Oregon. We lived in the High Desert and had underground, timed irrigation. So different parts of the lawns got watered at different times and for different amount of time. They were always surprising me when I was outside playing with my dog, or planting, or picking up brush, whatever. I usually didn't mind as they cooled me off.
