I'm just wondering if such a woman is seen by feminists as overly concerned with how she looks, and therefore "just doesn't get it".

zucchini, why so hostile? I never said anything negative about feminists. Are you carrying your own "baggage" into this discussion?

I have never met a feminist never mind a well dressed one, but the impression I'm getting off other posters is seeing a well dressed feminist would be like seeing "Shrek in a dress"

No. I consider myself a feminist, I believe women are entitled to the same rights as men. And just as men can be well-dressed and handsome, so can women. It's the idea that women aren't capable of doing anything more then looking pretty that irks me. The idea that if a woman isn't feminine or beautiful that she's worthless is what irks me.
Unless that beautiful, well dressed feminine woman does something to me like keying my car or kidnapping a member of my family, I'm good.

Nope. When I look in the mirror and see a well-dressed beautiful and feminine woman, I am not irked. (I'm also a feminist.)

Not at all....I'm a feminist and that describes myself as well as many other feminists that I know! :) Feminism isn't a fashion label, a look, or a one size fits all personality. It is more about a "loving league of sisters" (As Alcott stated in "Work").

I like looking at all kinds of women, though my taste in women may not be what is the 'norm' I do think that some conventionally beautiful women are lovely to look at.
Vanity and looking beautiful just aren't the same thing - neglecting ones appearance can be indicative of low self esteem, just as being far too concerned with ones appearance can be.

I like to dress well, and I consider myself very feminine (and, on occasion, I've been told I was beautiful).
None of that has anything to do with feminism. So, it seems that you are the one that "doesn't get it."

It depends. I don't like it when women go around scantily clad, leaving nothing to the imagination, which seems to happen a lot these days. It shames our sex.
On the other hand, a woman can be well-dressed and feminine, and it won't be annoying if she really feels this is who she is, and she is confident. That is all that counts in the end. Confidence. Not wearing something that you don't necessarily like, just because it is 'in'. Now that is annoying.

I AM a beautiful, well-dressed, feminine woman — and a feminist. Why would I be irked?

I am a feminist and I enjoy the sight of a beautiful woman just as much as any person would!
You are the one who doesn't "get it". Feminists do not desire to be ugly or to repulse men: most of us are heterosexual and desire (respectful) attention from men just as much as any other woman. We are NORMAL.

Nope...not "irked" at all...in fact I dare say I don't look too terribly bad in a nice dress and heels, myself.

no there's no reason why a feminist can't be beautiful or well dressed. You don't have to be overly concerned about you look to dress well. You don't get feminism at all. It's about not being underneath men and being proud of yourself as a woman not what you dress like.
