Basically I was late, however I ended up having my period four days later. Note the last time I was late was when I was pregnant three years ago. So, is it possible to be pregnant even though I had my period?

No, only one can happen. The whole process of having a period means that your egg was unfertilized and it along with the uterine lining is being shed from your body. If you were pregnant then there would be no need for any of that.

While it is most common to stop having periods while pregnant it is not unheard of for some women to still have periods while pregnant. I conceived very unexpectedly while taking birth control pills for 11 years. I did not find out I was pregnant until I was 17 weeks along. In that time frame I had 2 normal periods and 1 that was a little lighter and shorter despite the fact I was pregnant. After I found out I was pregnant, I stopped taking the Pill and my periods stopped as well. It is hormones that signal your body to have a period or not. As in the case with me, the Pill's hormones interfered with the hormones that were trying to tell my body I was pregnant. My body didn't get the message so it sloughed off blood and tissue despite the fact I had a baby growing. For women who have periods while pregnant it is an issue with hormones that causes it.

Pregnant women can have bleeding at the time they normally would have gotten their period throughout their pregnancy but it's not their actual "period". There have been a few cases where women actually ovulate during pregnancy buts it's very rare. My friend had bleeding up until she was 6 months pregnant whenever her period would have been due.

Yes you can have a period but normally its a Light Period & most women don't experience this. You may be one of them. If your having a normal period then your not pregnant. Good luck!

absolutely, had my period for 4 of the 5 months that I was pregnant with my daughter. When I found out I was 5 months pregnant they also took out my appendix. You can always test yourself with home kits, can have false negative reading but never a false positive.

Yes, my cousin got her period monthly when she was pregnant with her son. But I would go to the doctors and be check out just to be sure everything is alright, because I don't think it is very common. Good Luck

While not likely it can be possible, particularly if you are taking birth control pills and get pregnant while on them like if you were late taking a pill or missed one or something.

Absolutely. My period didn't stop coming around until after the 3rd month. I've actually heard of women who went their entire pregnancy with periods.

Yes. It's unlikely but possible, especially early on. Check with your doctor to be sure everything is OK.
